Thanksgiving Day Festivities

Thanksgiving Day
26 November 2009

We woke up at 8:30 in the morning. The atmosphere in the dorm was jubilant. We had 30 minutes of hygiene and chores, and then our fun began! We had some constructive free time and went off to the Big Building to eat our Thanksgiving breakfast. Instead of the usual oats, we had delicious Lucky Charms cereal; it was such a treat! We all cleaned up and quickly grabbed our comforters from our dorms, and brought them back to the Big Building. We were going to watch a movie: Disney Channel’s “Camp Rock!” Lots of girls had wanted to watch this movie for a long time. After the movie, while singing all the songs from it, we all changed in our dorms for the next event: The Turkey Bowl, Whisper Creek versus Crystal Springs, the two girls’ campuses. The game ended with Crystal Springs having scored one touchdown, to the two scored by Whisper Creek. After the game, we all went back to our dorms for more constructive free time. After about an hour, everyone was hungry again and waited for the clock to read one forty-five. Then, it finally did! We went to the Big Building and saw so much delicious food: Pie, jell-o, turkey, yams...the list goes on. We said a prayer and got called up by table to get good. Girls started saying how full they were when there was still a half a plate of food in front of them, although that did not stop them from getting a big piece of pie. After the delicious feast, we went back to our dorms to take a nap. Nearly everyone slept. Once we woke up, we each drew/colored our own Christmas ornaments for a competition. M. won on Crystal Springs and received a bag of Skittles as a prize. She drew a “Jolly Ole Santa”. That night, we ate peanut butter and jelly sandwiches (one of our favorite meals here) and went to bed with full stomachs and happy thoughts.
